Mocha Mousse, Color of Year 2025

This year, Pantone has nominated Mocha Mousse as 2025’s “Color of the Year.” “Mocha Mousse” signifies a shared desire for relaxation and indulgence. Reminiscent of chocolate or coffee, the color reminds us to slow down and smell the roses (or in this case, tiramisu).
However, “Mocha Mousse” is very different from previous chosen colors–– “Mocha Mousse,” a neutral brown, differs from the exciting “Peach Fuzz” or even the unofficial “Brat Green,” from Charli XCX’s recent album. Additionally, many of Pantone’s previously chosen colors were much brighter, such as 2019’s electrifying and energetic “Living Coral.” In contrast, “Mocha Mousse” emphasizes peace of mind and comfort, a reminder that we all need to take into account throughout the next few months.
As we are nearing the end of 2025, looking forward to a new “Color of the Year,” “Mocha Mousse”’s popularity continues to grow, especially in seasonal autumn fashion trends. As a fall staple, “Mocha Mousse” encapsulates trench coats, cozy sweaters, tights, and even patterns such as plaid or stripes. But next time you drink a chai latte, breathing into the Massachusetts chill, make sure to prioritize the little things––the way “Mocha Mousse” intended.
